Can I use other graphic card on Dell OptiPlex 990?
I saw this model Dell OptiPlex 990 with the following configuration:
- Processor: Intel Core i5-2500 3.3GHz, 6MB cache
- Memory: 4GB DDR3 1333MHz SDRAM
- Hard drive: 500GB 7200RPM SATA
- Graphic card: AMD Radeon HD 6450 1GB GDDR5
I just want to know if I could use a better graphic card with this desktop. I have search in Dell website on this model and saw that there is only this type of graphic card for the configuration. I want to have at least ATI HD 5770 1GB so that I could be able to play some game. But if I do so, is there any compatibility issue for such setting? Can I replace this HD 6450 with any better graphic card?
Answer:
Yes you can. Dont worry about compatibility problems, you will be just fine. They both require a PCI-E x16 express slot.
And an ATI Radeon HD 5770 is the perfect card you can get with that system.
Be careful,if the PSU is lower than 500w you might have problems. Reasons i say this is because most dell computers have a low quality PSU. 450w minimum you need for the 5770.
