Frequently Asked Questions...
What color recovery CD do i need for my dell gx270?
I have a Dell Desktop GX270 with Windows XP PRO
Answer:
I've never looked at recovery disks that way... interesting 'Color' ? Oh well.
Dell systems come two ways, some with a recovery partition and others with recovery disks.
If you can provide your Service Tax# that is on a sticker on your case, it will help to identify the exact system you have. (I have a system on my workbench at the moment - Dell Optiplex GX270 SFF. I did a clean fresh install for the client because 'they needed it' and they don't need all of the crap programs that come with the computer from Dell.)
You do not need the specific recovery disk from Dell, what you need is an OEM version of the O/S that is on the COA sticker on the side of the computer, as you mentioned, Windows XP Pro.
Install that and download the drivers from Dell's website using the Service tag# to locate them. http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen
Hope this helps.
