Frequently Asked Questions...
Buying a Refurbished Dell Desktop? PLEASE READ?
A couple of questions...First, do you think its safe and wise to buy a refurbished Dell desktop from Dell.com? I dont think it should be a problem since they offer a nice warrenty wtih it. What kind of processor and speed do I need to get if I just use my computer for basic things like listening to music, downloading music, watching videos online and watching DVDs.
Lastly, for about the same price ($315-$375) which one of the following would you recommend? They all have large hard drives (320 GB) and 1GB of memory. Please pick one and tell me why you would choose the one you picked:
Inspiron Desktop 531 Mini-tower: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4400+ (2.30GHZ)
Dimension E521 Mini-Tower: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 3600+ (1.9 GHz)
Vostro 200 Mini-Tower: Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor E2140 (1.60GHz, 1MB L2 Cache)
Answer:
I have to tell you something, I bought my last computer from Dell as a refurbished item and it was completely BRAND NEW when I got it. A lot of people/companies return computers before they even open the boxes and that's what I got, a brand new computer from DELL. However, if for some reason you aren't so lucky, the warrenty will cover everything...i've had computers last 10 years or so, so they should probably outlive the warrenty.
As for the pc I would pick on the list you gave, I would go for the faster CPU personally, the Inspiron 531 at the top of your list, but that's just me. (all of the ones on the list will do what you are looking for a computer to do for you.)
Last but not least, you know that on Black Friday (friday after thanksgiving), there are TONS of really good deals at all comp usa, circuit city, frys, best buy, etc and if you wait in line from about noon on thurs, you will get a really great deal on a pc. Keep a look out on the internet, they will post the deals soon, and they only sell like 3 or 4 of the reallly good deal computers that day so you have to be one of the very first 2 or 3 people in line to get a computer for like 200 bucks or something.
Good luck!
