Spend and fix or buy a new computer?
On my desktop I'm tired of fighting my 2 drives, cd and dvd, neither work properly (I can play on them but not record to blanks), and my sound card has been defunct and fuzzy sounding since I bought the computer (I bought a dell refurbished 2GB about 6 yrs ago). Is it worthwhile to replace the sound card and drives??? Or do I just give up and get a whole new hard drive?
I do know the sound card is bad, I've tried other speakers, the fuzziness is still there. And the cd and dvd drive are supposed to burn, I used to do it on them, I do know the difference. Most of what I use my computer for doesn't involve the sound or disk drives, so it hasn't impacted me too badly. I can buy new if I really need to, but would like to save the money if I could. The other thing I dread is copying everything to the new computer, reloading everything.
Answer:
Get a new computer. I honestly don't think manufacturers are still going to continue developing parts they made 6 years ago. And if your CD/DVD drives don't burn discs that means they're not burners. (Please learn the difference between players and burners).
It's been 6 years, buy or build your own new PC. I recommend building.
